The Elephant and the mosquito

The elephant does not fight the mosquito. Fighting a worthless battle consumes too much of its energy. Instead, the elephant has evolved a considerably thick skin. Every once in a while the elephant swats or bathes or rolls in a valiant effort to rid infestation. It doesn't work and the elephant and the mosquito must coexist. Elephant blood is nectar in the land of milk and honey to the mosquitoes of Shanghai.
